The Patch
10 acres of The Patch's finest
The Patch original Guest House on 10 acres
Just 8 months prior to the start of World War 1, when the minimum wage in Australia was 42 Shillings per week, Andrew Fisher was the Prime Minister of Australia for the third time, Norfolk Island became an Australian Territory and on the very day Posinatus won the Melbourne Cup in a time of 3:31:00, Bonnie Doon Guest House welcomed its very first guests.
Residing, at the time on 20 glorious acres of arguably the districts best land, Bonnie Doon had only recently been re-built to become a Guest House after spending most of the late 1800's as the home of the Burne family.
Today the same guest house still stands proudly on 10 acres of the original farm, largely untouched and surrounded by 2 acres of 100+ year old gardens, in an almost park like setting.
With original Baltic pine weatherboards inside and out, as well as Pressed Metal ceilings and wall panels, Bonnie Doon takes you back 100 years in time, the moment you step inside.
The amazing farmlet still offers some of the district's best soils, most amazing views and a uninterrupted northern exposure, 2 sealed road frontage, mains water along with a large Water Diversion Permit to the Sassafras Creek (complete with pump) and a substantial farm shed.
Since the original Crown Grant from the Australian Government, only 2 families spanning across 3 centuries have been fortunate to call Bonnie Doon home and become part of Dandenong Ranges and Australian pioneering History.
